About Foley Real Estate, Falmouth Cape Cod

Foley Real Estate was founded in 1970 and focused primarily on the sale of residential homes. In the years immediately following, condominium by-laws were adopted and ensuing developments took shape on the Cape Cod landscape. At this time, Foley Real Estate expanded into the sale of land and condominiums as well as limited summer, winter and year round rentals. In 1974, the present office building at 703 Main Street was constructed and that is where we make our home today.


During the 1980’s, the staff grew to a group of eight salespersons and brokers and reached out to a broader market through enhanced print advertising. The firm expanded its sales outreach to Europe during the period of high mortgage interest rates of the early 1980’s. This proved to be a robust market at a time when the domestic market remained flat.


The late 1980’s ushered in a recession and flurry of bank failures that softened the residential real estate market throughout the United States. Although Cape Cod was somewhat insulated from this recession, it still experienced a loss of real estate values. The firm expanded to ten licensed agents, primarily handling residential sales and rentals as well as limited commercial offerings. The 1990’s brought a renewed strength to Cape Cod real estate and the arrival of the Internet allowed Foley Real Estate to reach out to potential buyers and renters worldwide. At the same time, we launched a new and separate company named MarinasForSale.com. This was an Internet based firm that handled the marketing, purchase and sale of entire marinas and boatyards. The staff had now grown to an even dozen with a support contingent.


At the turn of the century, Cape Cod experienced explosive growth in the real estate markets, primarily the result of Internet based searching for properties and liberal banking policies. Prices climbed to all time highs for all segments of the real estate market. Later in the decade, the sale of homes, condos and land declined the requests for summer, winter and year round rentals increased.


Today, Foley Real Estate has a nucleus of twenty five brokers, salespersons and support staff. We are licensed as real estate brokers in fourteen states and are in process for licensing in Ontario and Quebec provinces of Canada. Our Web site, FoleyRE.com enjoys over 1,500,000 monthly hits and more than 45,000 unique monthly visits and continues to grow. We offer over 130 rentals available for summer, winter or year round occupancy. The firm offers both buyer and seller representation and advocacy while maintaining a high market share of sales. We continually work to make every visitor’s experience on Cape Cod the best and most memorable ever.
